Welcome to the Romark Laboratories Clinical Trials Site, RomarkTrials.com. This Web site has been developed to provide information in support of Romark's STEALTH-C clinical development program, and in particular, STEALTH C-3, a clinical trial investigating an investigational drug (nitazoxanide) in combination with peginterferon alpha-2a and ribavirin in patients with chronic hepatitis C genotype 1, patients who have not received prior therapy.
A clinical trial is a study designed to answer specific questions about a potential new therapy or a new use of an established therapy. The specific questions most often examined are about safety, i.e., what are the side effects or toxicity of the drug, and efficacy, i.e., does the drug work. A clinical trial may also be referred to as a research study. Individuals who volunteer to participate in a clinical trial are often referred to as study subjects.
Those that are unfamiliar with hepatitis C clinical trials tend to believe that a placebo (a pill that contains an inactive drug) is sometimes administered in the control group. However, this is a myth - in all recent hepatitis trials, the new treatment being tested is evaluated against the current "standard of care," or best treatment currently available. Thus, all hepatitis C patients in a clinical trial are assured of receiving an active drug, i.e., peginterferon plus ribavirin, with or without the investigational drug.

If you are interested in participating in a clinical study, please speak with your doctor.
